Shri J. P. Agrawal elected as the patron of Chess Association of India

 

New Delhi: 08 April 2010: In the Central Council and General Body Meeting of Chess Association of India, held in the Conference Hall of Parliament House on 7th April 2010, the General Body unanimously elected Shri J.P. Agrawal (M.P. & the Chairman of Housing Committee, Lok Sabha) as one of the patrons. The meeting was attended by its all Office Bearers, affiliated state units and affiliated academies.

Ex-Minister Shri Lalit Jain was also selected as one of the patrons. In the meeting agenda was discussed and it was decided to nominate Mr. Surendra Kr. Tewari as Acting President of Chess Association of India till the General Body elects new President in place of Late Naveen Kumar Wal, who passed away during January 2010.

In the presence of Shri J.P. Agrawal, it was decided to send CAI players abroad for participation in the International Events. It was also decided to conduct chess coaching camps all over the country and Mr. Mahesh L. Ved, Secretary General was assigned the responsibility to prepare a calendar for the same.

It was further decided to conduct a Technical Conference-cum- Refressal Course for Arbiters at Lonawala, Maharashtra in May 2010 to make their panel to conduct future tournaments and championships organized by CAI and its affiliates. A tournament report of recently organized Grand Cup All India Open Chess Tournament held Raipur Chhatisgarh was presented before the House by CAI Joint Sercretary and Observer of the tournament Sri Vikas Singhai.

Mr. Surendra Kr. Tewari, the Acting President thanked the players of the country for their enthusiastic participation in CAI announced tournaments. It has already been decided to award about ONE CRORE RUPEES during year 2010 to them.
